Paint Sprayer / Vehicle Paint Technician - Rolling Stock\n\nRolling Stock Maintenance / Vehicle Finishing Team\n Client: Alstom UK - Derby\n Large-scale rail manufacturing and refurbishment environment\n\nVoyager Refurbishment project and the follow-on CL222 Refurbishment project until September 2028\n\nRole Purpose\n\nThis role involves delivering high-quality paint finishing on large rail vehicles, including full surface preparation, priming, spraying, and final finishing. You will be working in a safety-critical, physically demanding production environment where precision and finish quality are essential.\n\nCandidates from a range of engineering and vehicle finishing backgrounds will be considered.\n\nLocation & Working Pattern\n\nLocation: Derby\nShifts: Days\nMinimum 45 hours per week\nImmediate starts availableKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out full surface preparation on rolling stock (sanding, keying, masking, filling)\nApply primer and topcoat systems, including 2K paint systems\nSpray large vehicle surfaces to a high-quality standard\nComplete finishing work including polishing, defect removal, and snagging\nCarry out touch-ups and rectification work on completed vehicles\nApply detailed livery designs accurately to specification\nWork from technical drawings, written instructions, and job sheets\nMaintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and quality\nWork effectively as part of a fast-paced production teamShifts, Salary & Benefits\n \n Note: The shift is a single continuous day shift with blended pay rates applied across early and late hours within the shift.\n \n * Days, Monday - Thursday (45 hr week total) \n * 06.00 - 16.30\n * Friday 06.00 - 11.00\n \n o 06:00-14:00: £19.57 PAYE / £26.15 Umbrella \n o 14:00-16:30: £20.98 PAYE / £28.06 Umbrella\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\n\nEssential\n\nPrevious experience in paint finishing or spray painting\nAbility to prepare, prime, and finish large surface areas\nExperience working from technical instructions and specifications\nStrong attention to detail and quality control\nAbility to work in a physically demanding environmentDesirable\n\nExperience in rail, automotive, marine, aviation, HGV, or plant industries\nWater-based paint system experience\nKnowledge of 2K systems and Hydro topcoats\nAbility to mix and match paint colours accurately\nExperience with pressure pot spray systems\nExperience working with aluminium components (awareness of sensitivity considerations)Key Competencies\n\nStrong attention to detail and pride in workmanship\nAbility to follow structured processes consistently\nTeam-oriented approach in a high-volume production environment\nConsistency across large surface applications\nReliable and committed to shift-based work\nSafety-focused at all times\nWillingness to learn and develop new techniquesHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nDrug & Alcohol test required prior to start\nFull compliance with PPE and site safety rules\nSafe handling of coatings, chemicals, and equipment\nAdherence to COSHH and environmental procedures\nWorking within a safety-critical manufacturing environment# INDENG-BR\n\nRullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants
